The Rootstown Rovers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They wrapped up 2023 with a 60-44 win over Alliance. Given Rootstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Alliance is ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rootstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nadia Lough led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sasha Nichols, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Rootstown's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Alliance, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rootstown will take on Mogadore at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Mogadore focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. As for Alliance, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Salem at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Salem has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
