The Union Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Windsor Owls 3-2.
Union was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final set scores came out to 25-22, 18-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rilynn Wingenbach out in front who had 18 kills, seven solo blocks, and five digs. The team also got some help from Macy Tall, who had 27 assists, six digs, and four aces.
Despite the loss, Windsor had strong showings from Chloe Williams, who had 19 assists, 18 digs, seven kills, and three aces, and Libby Cobb, who had 20 digs and three aces. Kelly Krsul was another key player, getting 17 assists, six kills, six digs, and three aces.
Union's win brought them up to 1-1. As for Windsor, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-2.
Coming up, Union will take on Holt in a tournament on Saturday. As for Windsor, they will be playing at home against Jefferson at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
