The Madison-Grant Argylls will be taking part in a tournament against the Cowan Blackhawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Madison-Grant has six straight wins, Cowan has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Madison-Grant is returning to their home field after beating Wes-Del on theirs, despite the fact Wes-Del has dominated at home this season. The Argylls blew past the Warriors 12-6 on Friday. The Argylls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Delaney Pavey, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mae Ricks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
New Castle hit Cowan with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blackhawks came up short against the Trojans, falling 9-1.
Candice Matson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Madison-Grant pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Cowan's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison-Grant has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Cowan, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Madison-Grant's sizable advantage in that area, the Blackhawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Madison-Grant took their victory against Cowan when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Argylls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
