After a string of seven wins, the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to West Holt 55-49. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Holt apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Cheatum, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Cheatum hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Preston Hoke, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Lincoln Konrad, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for West Holt. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Nemetz, who scored 14 points.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3. As for West Holt, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] will face off against Elgin/Pope John on Thursday. As for West Holt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Niobrara/Verdigre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Holt is facing Niobrara/Verdigre at the right time seeing as Niobrara/Verdigre is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
