After a string of four wins, the Eagle Valley Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Grand Junction by a score of 65-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (61), Eagle Valley still had to take the loss.
Several Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brian Fontana, who scored 16 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Zoller, who scored 17 points.
Grand Junction's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brett Woytek, who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woytek has scored all season. Brady Page was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two blocks.
Eagle Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Grand Junction, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Valley will face off against Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Montrose is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Grand Junction, they will head out on the road to square off against Fruita Monument at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fruita Monument will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
