Allegheny Mountain - Southern recap Sept. 26, 2012
Brock Mccullough of Elk County Catholic ran for the longest rushing play in Allegheny Mountain - Southern this season against Ridgway last week. Mccullough's team defeated the Elker as he sprinted for 72 yards on the play and finished with 166 in all.
Johnsonburg moved up to 545 from 591 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-0 win over the Rams helped the Rams improve their standing.
Curwensville's dynamic duo of Hunter McCracken and Jordan Russell proved tough for Johnsonburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McCracken threw for 125 yards and one touchdown and Russell had 110 yards receiving. Josh Greslick helped Curwensville's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.
Curwensville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Tide feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McCracken has thrown for 382 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Russell has 20 catches for 358 yards. Greslick leads the league in rushing with 548 yards.
A big matchup in Allegheny Mountain - Southern this week will be when the Golden Tide take on Kane. As it stands, Curwensville is in second, while the Wolves are in fourth.
Elk County Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ridgway, 28-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
