The Lanier Bulldogs lost against the Ridgeland Titans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lanier fell 60-53 to Ridgeland. While losing is never fun, Lanier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Ridgeland is ranked 43rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgeland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Phil Nelson, who scored 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nelson has scored at least 25% of Ridgeland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khameron Snow, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lanier and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Ridgeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Lanier won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Terry on December 16th. Ridgeland is on the road again on Friday and play against Callaway at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd.
