Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Pascagoula Panthers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Picayune on Friday, falling 38-0. Pascagoula lost against Picayune in their previous head to head back in October, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 51-14 score last time.
Picayune got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darrell Smith out in front who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Niquis Ratcliff was another key contributor, gaining 98 total yards and two touchdowns.
Pascagoula's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Picayune, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Pascagoula does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Picayune will take on West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jones will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
