If the Leyden Eagles were riding high off their 48-23 takedown of the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Leyden fell 64-56 to Buffalo Grove on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Leyden still got an impressive performance from Drelyn Jones, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 44.6% of Leyden's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Israel Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Buffalo Grove, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
Leyden didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-56 defeat vs. Downers Grove South on the 9th. Buffalo Grove has also already played their next contest, a 38-37 win against Prospect on the 9th.
