Farragut is 1-7 against Knoxville Catholic since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Farragut Admirals will be taking part in a tournament against the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
While Farragut didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Lenoir City by a score of 58-47 on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farragut to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominic Vanacker, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Vanacker's third in a row with at least ten points. Parker Lane was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.
Farragut smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Knoxville Catholic waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 77-60 victory over the Lions. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Lions are ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Farragut better focus on containing Carson Asbaty and Cade Murphy as the pair were huge in Knoxville Catholic's win. Asbaty dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists, while Murphy dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Asbaty a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Kerschbaum, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.
Knoxville Catholic's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Farragut, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Farragut hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.4 points per game. However, it's not like Knoxville Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 74.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Farragut took a serious blow against Knoxville Catholic when the teams last played back in January of 2019, falling 72-45. Can Farragut avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
