The Sarasota Sailors will challenge the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sarasota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Sarasota's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over East Bay. The win continues a trend for the Sailors in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Sarasota got a massive performance out of Sommer Speers, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Speers has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sheridan Swain, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, Lakewood Ranch was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to Parrish Community. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Lakewood Ranch saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendal McCoy, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was McCoy's first of the season.

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Sarasota, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Lakewood Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Sarasota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lakewood Ranch, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Sarasota keep running through batters, or will Lakewood Ranch buck the trend?

Sarasota took their win against Lakewood Ranch in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Sarasota repeat their success, or does Lakewood Ranch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
