Basketball Recap: Lincoln Charter's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Mountain Island Charter last Tuesday, Lincoln Charter came back down to earth. The Lincoln Charter Eagles fell 74-64 to the Corvian Community Cardinals on Friday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Lincoln Charter's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mckennon Showers, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points and five blocks, and David Reed IV, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Reed IV's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Cogan, who posted nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Corvian Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Doug Quarles III, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Quarles III has posted since back in February of 2024. AJ Jackson Jr. was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.

Lincoln Charter's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Corvian Community, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Lincoln Charter will take on Community School of Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Davidson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Lincoln Charter likes a good challenge. Corvian Community has already played their next contest, an 87-52 win against Lake Norman Christian on the 25th.
