The Western Reserve Blue Devils will challenge the Jackson-Milton Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Western Reserve and four for Jackson-Milton.
Western Reserve is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 15, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of McKinley by a score of 16-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.
Averie Hendon put in work no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hendon was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Kylee Ramsey and Sophia Reigle did some serious damage despite the final result: Ramsey went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Reigle went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Cloeigh Endsley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton came up short against McDonald on Tuesday and fell 6-1.
Jackson-Milton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Johns, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Western Reserve's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Jackson-Milton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Western Reserve hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jackson-Milton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
