The Indian Creek Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Owen Valley Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Indian Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
While Indian Creek's victory against North Putnam wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Braves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cougars on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Braves as they're now sitting on three straight.
Delaney Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jasmine Day, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Jada Shepard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Owen Valley). They put the hurt on White River Valley with a sharp 20-1 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won six in a row.
Haley Amador made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Amador was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Anya Deford was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Makynlee Bonds, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Owen Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Indian Creek's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Owen Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indian Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Owen Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Indian Creek couldn't quite finish off Owen Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Will the Braves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
