The Greenwood Mennonite Flames stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They claimed a resounding 56-15 win over Faith Baptist School at home. The win was familiar territory for Greenwood Mennonite who now have seven in a row.
Greenwood Mennonite had a senior duo take command as Laci Mast scored 23 points along with five steals and Faith Troyer almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Mast is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carli Welfley, who scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Faith Baptist School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greenwood Mennonite racked up 18 assists.
Greenwood Mennonite's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Faith Baptist School, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood Mennonite won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th. Tri-State Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Flames a 14-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Faith Baptist School, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Fighting Marlins at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Seaside Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
