The McClave Cardinals will be playing at home against the Kit Carson Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClave has five straight victories, the Wildcats have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact McClave proved on Friday. They breezed by Eads on the road to the tune of 65-37.
McClave relied on the efforts of Jr. Mungaray, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Tuff Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mungaray has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Forgue, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Kit Carson suffered a rough 55-33 loss at the hands of the Eagles on Monday. Kit Carson has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
McClave has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Kit Carson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for McClave against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 79-52 win. Will McClave repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
