Baseball Recap: Dubois Central Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Five

DuBois Central Catholic had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Port Allegany Gators on Friday as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Evan Burton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Trenton Miller also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: DuBois Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Allegany only managed three hits.

The win (which was DuBois Central Catholic's fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Port Allegany, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3.

DuBois Central Catholic has already played their next contest, a 4-1 win against Clarion Area on the 26th. Port Allegany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
