It's playoff time, and Wilson Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 53-43 win over the Neuse Charter Cougars on Friday. The Tigers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 19 straight.
Wilson Prep found their leader in freshman Paris Best, who posted 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Those seven boards gave Best a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MyAngel Brimage, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 11 points and eight rebounds.
Wilson Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yedidia Tsolenyanu, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Tsolenyanu is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayley Cochran, who had six points along with six boards and four steals.
Wilson Prep's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1. As for Neuse Charter, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-8.
Looking ahead, Wilson Prep will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Bladen at 7:00 p.m. East Bladen will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Wilson Prep surely won't give up without a fight. Neuse Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
