Oxford Academy hasn't had much luck against Artesia recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pioneers at 3:15 p.m. Oxford Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
While Oxford Academy's victory against Whitney wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots skirted past the Wildcats 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Emily Ganguly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
Ganguly wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniela Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another was Ava Pitts, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Artesia came up short against Pioneer on Friday and fell 12-8.
Kaleyse Foster made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Adela Saucedo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Oxford Academy pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Artesia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oxford Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Artesia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oxford Academy might still be hurting after the 19-4 loss they got from Artesia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
