If Battle wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Rock Bridge, they should've done a better job of containing Terry Schrock. The Bruins walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Spartans on Tuesday for which the team can thank Schrock, who had 25 digs and five aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.
While Rock Bridge might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Battle scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 15-25, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Blair Oaks didn't have quite enough to beat Capital City on Tuesday and fell 3-2.
Blair Oaks actually scored more points across those five sets (98-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 12-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10.
Rock Bridge will have to keep a close watch on Kendall Wood and Laney Toebben, a pair of players who had a big impact on Blair Oaks' prior game. Wood had 26 digs and two aces, while Toebben had six aces and five digs.
Rock Bridge now has a winning record of 18-17. As for Blair Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-19.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Rock Bridge has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Blair Oaks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Rock Bridge's way against Blair Oaks in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Rock Bridge made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
