Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Region 4 this week, Bogue Chitto beat Sacred Heart 38-16,. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Lumberton was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Panthers triumphed over Salem 12-7.
Cathedral's dynamic duo of Thomas Garrity and Jardarius Anderson proved to be unstoppable against Resurrection Catholic, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Garrity threw for 351 yards and 6 touchdowns and Anderson had 169 yards receiving. Ishmael Blackmon helped Cathedral's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 132 yards.
The Green Wave's dynamic duo of Garrity and Anderson proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Tevin Moore was a force in the backfield as Stringer beat Hinds County Agricultural.
Moore was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 224 yards on 24 carries as the Red Devils bested Resurrection Catholic. Teammate Zack Alridge added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
He was 17-28 with 1 interception.
Javier Chavis made the biggest impact on defense this week as Lumberton bested the Wildcats. He.
Anderson was the best wideout in 1A Region 4 this week as Ron Rushing's team topped Scott Sisson's team.
Garrity put up the best numbers in passing as the Green Wave topped the Eagles.
Cathedral's Garrity and Anderson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Garrity has thrown for 1,802 yards this season, while Anderson has 48 catches for 865 yards. Moore from Stringer leads the league in rushing with 643 yards.
Going into this week's game against Marlon Brannan's team, the Green Wave's Garrity needs 198 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Cathedral takes on the Red Devils. The Green Wave are currently in third, while Stringer is in first.
Resurrection Catholic lost to Cathedral 43-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Larry Sisson threw for 87 yards and ran for 53 yards in the defeat.
