Portsmouth Christian Academy is 9-1 against Pittsfield since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Portsmouth Christian Academy came out on top against Nute last Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run fifth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Rams. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Lexi Jordan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lexi Anderson and Isabella Stevens did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Stevens went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Sophie Anderson was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, on Friday Pittsfield's undefeated season almost came to an end. They skirted past Epping 3-1.
Like Portsmouth Christian Academy, Pittsfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Alex Penney. She struck out 18 batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Penney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double.
Penney wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Babcock, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Alivia Lavigne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Pittsfield pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Portsmouth Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Portsmouth Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pittsfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
