Two dominant signal callers in Gavin Marsh and Landon Husereau are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Moses Brown Quakers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Westerly Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. Moses Brown is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Moses Brown barely beat Rogers the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Quakers took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-7 win over the Vikings. The game marked the Quakers' most dominant victory of the season.
Moses Brown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Jeffreys out in front who picked up 71 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Nahziel Rodriguez, who rushed for 95 yards on only ten carries.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jeffreys, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Westerly faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 30-14 victory over the Knights.
Westerly found their leader in sophomore Husereau, who threw for 251 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Westerly's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Damon Uva with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.
Westerly's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Moses Brown, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
