Garrity Ullom made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jack Carr tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, North Central got a big performance out of Rykin Matthias, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kole Krienhagen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
North Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warren Central only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, Ben Davis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to Plainfield.
Ben Davis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Calvin, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Ben Davis' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for North Central, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Ben Davis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Ben Davis, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain North Central's hitters?
