Softball Recap: Rio Rancho Has No Trouble Against Volcano Vista

Rio Rancho had won three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 15-7 to make it four. They were the clear victors by a 19-11 margin over the Volcano Vista Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

As for Volcano Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

For Volcano Vista's part, Neveah Padilla was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Avery Bell also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Rancho will challenge Cibola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Volcano Vista, they will square off against Sandia at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Matadors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
