The Field Kindley Golden Tornado are taking a road trip to square off against the Columbus Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
If Field Kindley beats Columbus with 13 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Golden Tornado beat Cherryvale on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tornado, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ryley Robson made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Robson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bennett Thompson, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brody Foster also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Field Kindley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Columbus got the win against Southeast on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1.
Columbus got a big performance out of Syler Schuberger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Midgett, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Columbus' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season. As for Field Kindley, their record is now 3-1.
Field Kindley came up short against Columbus when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Golden Tornado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
