Foxcroft Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mattanawcook, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Ponies never let the Lynx get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Ponies sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Hayden Strout was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thomas Day, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April. Calvin Landry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Foxcroft Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mattanawcook only managed three hits.
Foxcroft Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mattanawcook, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.
