The California Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the Monte Vista Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. California is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
California will bounce into Friday's game after beating San Ramon Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Grizzlies enjoyed a cozy 33-14 win over the Wolves on Friday.

California's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Banerjee Arjun led the charge by throwing for 268 yards and one TD while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 36 yards. 105 of Arjun's passing yards were hauled in by Darius Brown, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to California's defense and their three sacks. Zach Bruce refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. Another thorn in San Ramon Valley's side was Everett Cross, who picked up 0.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Monte Vista lost 38-13 to Oak Ridge on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Trojans are ranked 26th).
California will have to contain Ian Ondricek as he made an impact in Monte Vista's last game. He threw for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Monte Vista and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for California, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. California has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 157.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Monte Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
California strolled past Monte Vista when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 50-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
