The Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs will face off against the Caldwell Chiefs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rumson-Fair Haven took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Marlboro, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs on Thursday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 16, 2024.
Cooper Jones looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rumson-Fair Haven is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miles Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Shenman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Caldwell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over West Orange on Friday.
Caldwell got a big performance out of Dante Placenti, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Santino Russo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Caldwell's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Rumson-Fair Haven took their win against Caldwell when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-7 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chiefs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
