Baseball Game Preview: Central Jaguars vs. Jay Royals

Central hasn't had much luck against Jay recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jaguars will square off against the Royals at 7:00 p.m. Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Baker, sneaking past 11-9. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brock Reeves was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Central is undefeated when Reeves posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelton Enfinger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Jay waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Chiefs.

Landon Golden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Jay's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jax Lowery, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Central's record is now 14-6. As for Jay, their record now sits at 14-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jay struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Central might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Jay in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
