The Weiser Wolverines had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They greeted the New Year with with a 44-29 victory over Homedale. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Weiser also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Homedale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Asumendi, who scored nine points. Asumendi hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Arlett Quezada, who scored eight points.
Weiser's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Homedale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weiser is on the road again on Saturday and play against Parma at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Parma is ranked 28th, while Weiser is ranked 47th). As for Homedale, they will head out on the road to face off against Payette at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Payette is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
