The Brackenridge Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since November 14, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 61-40 loss at the hands of MacArthur. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brackenridge in their matchups with MacArthur: they've now lost three in a row.
Brackenridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alasia Brown, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That was a full 52.5% of Brackenridge's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sky Lopez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
MacArthur found their leader in underclassman Ellie Lee, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Saely Garcia, who scored four points along with three steals.
Brackenridge's loss dropped their record down to 15-14. As for MacArthur, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.
Brackenridge will be playing at home against Incarnate Word at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for MacArthur, they will head out on the road to face off against Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sam Houston is on a four-game streak of home wins, MacArthur a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
