Assumption is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Scott County, who was ranked 20th at the time (Assumption was ranked 15th). The Rockets came up short against the Cardinals on Saturday, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Rockets couldn't push the score so high this time.
Assumption saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maleya Giddens, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Tessa Dillon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Atherton waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 16-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Atherton got a massive performance out of Izzy Cummins, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Cummins has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Harris, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Atherton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Atherton's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Assumption, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.
Atherton's pitching crew better be locked in on Tuesday. Assumption hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. It's a different story for Atherton, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Assumption in the park?
Everything went Assumption's way against Atherton in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Assumption made off with an 11-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
