The Kiski Area Cavaliers will square off against the Penn Hills Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Kiski Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Kiski Area will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Wednesday, then bounced right back against McKeesport on Wednesday. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the Tigers.

Aubrey West made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Alyssa Perona was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Dakota Rainey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.

Kiski Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Penn Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Plum, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Penn Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Kiski Area, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Everything went Kiski Area's way against Penn Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2021, as Kiski Area made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Cavaliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
