Nolan Rice made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. He has become a key player for Newark: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Cody Forjone was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Livonia hit Dansville with a seven-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 11-1 to the Bulldogs. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dansville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mark Sick, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Dansville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Newark, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Newark has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dansville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
