Even though the Brunswick Pirates scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, the Evans Knights still came out on top. Evans walked away with a 67-59 win over Brunswick. That's another feather in the cap for Evans, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Evans got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taj Ford out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. Brice Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Butler, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nasir Poole, who scored 15 points.
Evans is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Brunswick, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Evans will be playing in front of their home fans against Grovetown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grovetown is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. As for Brunswick, Brunswick and South Effingham will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Effingham comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
