4A Conference 15 recap October 8, 2013
Cape Fear scaled the state rankings by moving to 139 from 168 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Conference 15. The Colts climbed the ranks as a result of topping Overhills 31-0.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, South View beat Seventy-First 27-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Jack Britt's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harrison Strother threw for 400 and 3 touchdowns and Tre Hales had 262 yards receiving. On the ground Eric Carter contributed 166 yards. Quinton Murphy helped Jack Britt's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 135 yards.
He went 12-17 with 1 interception.
Hales had an awesome week catching the football as the Buccaneers topped Pine Forest. He caught 6 passes for 262 yards.
Marquel King made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Jaguars lost to Cape Fear. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed 1 interception.
Carter was the best running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 166 yards as Jack Britt beat the Trojans. Teammate Cameron Quintero added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Harold Herbin of E.E. Smith is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,672. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hales. The Jack Britt star has 15 catches for 561 yards.
The top two teams in 4A Conference 15 will face off this week when first place South View takes on second place Pine Forest. South View topped the Falcons last week, while Pine Forest fell to Brian Rimpf's team.
Overhills lost to Jacob Thomas' team 31-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Quincy Ridley was a bright spot for Rodney Barr's team, as he ran for 40 yards in the loss.
