Given Santa Cruz's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while San Lorenzo Valley is ranked 916th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Santa Cruz to victory were Ben Dotten and Kirby Seals. Dotten dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Seals scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Demeke Smith, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Santa Cruz is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Santa Cruz does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Scotts Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
