The Southern Wayne Saints won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a serious blow against East Wake, falling 92-64. Southern Wayne has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Southern Wayne's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kairell Evans, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Hardy, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Ben Fox had a dynamite game for East Wake, going 8 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 50 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fox has scored all season. Donovan Majette was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Southern Wayne's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11. As for East Wake, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Southern Wayne will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Johnston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 562 points over their last nine matchups. As for East Wake, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hunt will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
