Grundy County is 0-5 against Community since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Grundy County Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Community Vikings/Viqueens at 6:00 p.m. Grundy County will be strutting in after a victory while Community will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Cascade scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Grundy County still came out on top. Grundy County managed a 62-58 win over Cascade. The victory was just what Grundy County needed coming off of a 78-27 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, Community were a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 48-22 walloping at the hands of Cannon County. While losing is never fun, Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Cannon County is ranked 43rd).
Anna Haskins was Community's leading scorer, having posted 13 points.
Alyssa White held things down on the boards with 11 rebounds.
Brooklyn Yoes took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Grundy County's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Community, they dropped their record down to 8-16 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Grundy County was dealt a bruising 60-23 defeat at the hands of Community in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Grundy County was down 32-11.
