It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Antonian Prep Apaches had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-28 win over the Trojans. Antonian Prep might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 21 points or more this season.
Antonian Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Toscano led the charge by throwing for 311 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Landon Prouty was another key contributor, rushing for 169 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
When it comes to explaining why Trinity Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Mills. Despite the final result, he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Dylan Eubanks, who gained 113 total yards and a touchdown.
Antonian Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Trinity Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Antonian Prep will take on Parish Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Parish Episcopal's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. Trinity Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
