The Duanesburg Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Fonda-Fultonville Valley Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Duanesburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Duanesburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Broadalbin-Perth on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-7. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Genevieve Rickert was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Hailey Davis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Addison Kapusta also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fonda-Fultonville). Everything went their way against Watervliet on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-7 victory. The Valley Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
Harper Huckans was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylre Watterson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Fonda-Fultonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fonda-Fultonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Duanesburg, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 7-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Duanesburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Fonda-Fultonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Duanesburg took their victory against Fonda-Fultonville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Valley Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
