On Wednesday, Campbell was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Norman, taking the game 47-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Campbell's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in Georgia, while Lake Norman is ranked sixth in North Carolina).
Campbell was led to victory by Saniya Binion and Brooke Suttle. Binion scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Suttle scored 18 points. The matchup was Suttle's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Phillip, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Lake Norman lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexis Shehan, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Shehan hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kelsey Rhyne was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Campbell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Lake Norman, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Campbell's road trip will continue as they head out to face Seaforth at 2:45 p.m. on December 21st. Seaforth will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Lake Norman won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newton at 7:45 p.m. on December 21st.
