Baseball Game Preview: Briggs Bruins vs. West Cowboys

Briggs has gone 8-1-1 against West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bruins will welcome the Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. Briggs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

Briggs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Columbus International with a sharp 21-8 win on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Bruins as they're now sitting on three straight.

JD Adkins and Marcus Rodgers made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Adkins tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Rodgers pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Adkins scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Rodgers scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Adkins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Griffith, who scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Briggs is undefeated when Griffith posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Wright, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Briggs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, West came up short against Independence on Monday, falling 16-2. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the 76ers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

West's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Briggs, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Briggs took their victory against West in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
