Baseball Recap: McCallie Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Baylor, McCallie was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the McMinn County Cherokees by a score of 12-8. The win continues a trend for the Blue Tornado in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won four in a row.

Kelby Barnett looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because McCallie is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Jerome Lehoux was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Shortridge, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

McCallie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

McCallie's victory bumped their record up to 11-16. As for McMinn County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Coincidentally, McCallie and McMinn County will both be playing Wilson Central the next time they take the field. The Cherokees will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Blue Tornado will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
