Edison (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and
Garfield (Los Angeles, Calif.) both tightened up defensively, but Edison managed to score enough to pull out the 13-0 victory.
The Chargers scored on two passing touchdowns to secure the victory.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Matthew Gane to
Jeremy Maxwell in the first quarter, Edison led 7-0 at the half.
EHS grew its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. The Huntington Beach school's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 27-7 win for the Chargers.
In a non-conference game next week Edison (2-0) takes on Servite, and Garfield (0-2) will go up against George Washington Prep also in a non-conference game.
