It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Porter Ridge Pirates had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Cuthbertson at home to the tune of 41-0. Considering Porter Ridge has won seven contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jared Lockhart looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 120 yards on only ten carries, while also throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Rai'Shawn Elmore was another key contributor, picking up 73 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Cuthbertson to a paltry 103 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Porter Ridge's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Ben Parcewski was especially locked on to Cuthbertson's QB and sacked him twice.
The victory (which was Porter Ridge's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points per game. As for Cuthbertson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Porter Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Hough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hough will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Cuthbertson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
