Pickens is 1-9 against Easley since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pickens Blue Flame will be playing at home against the Easley Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Pickens and five for Easley.
Pickens pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 74-56 fall against Greenwood. While losing is never fun, Pickens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Greenwood is ranked 38th).
Pickens' loss came about despite a quality game from Eli Doty, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Carter Mckenzie, who scored seven points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Speaking of assists, Pickens were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Easley pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between Easley and Greenville wasn't particularly close, with Easley falling 69-55. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Easley in their matchups with Greenville: they've now lost four in a row.
Pickens has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Easley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Pickens beat Easley 69-56 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Pickens repeat their success, or does Easley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
