Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Statesboro's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Statesboro extended their road winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Muhammad Shareef. The Statesboro Blue Devils enjoyed a cozy 64-50 win over the South Effingham Mustangs on Tuesday thanks in part to Shareef, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Caiden Cone, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, South Effingham still got an impressive performance from Will Harlin, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael Hall, who posted ten points.

Statesboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for South Effingham, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Statesboro has already played their next contest (against Swainsboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Effingham will face off against Bradwell Institute at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bradwell Institute's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.
