Clover Hill is 0-10 against Midlothian since May of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will challenge the Trojans. Clover Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Clover Hill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Deep Run by a score of 4-1. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Olivia Kelly, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Paige Marshall also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Midlothian got themselves on the board against Godwin on Friday, but Godwin never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 12 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Erika Fiege was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, Lea Foldenauer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Mousa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Midlothian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Clover Hill's record now sits at 12-7-1. As for Midlothian, their record is now 18-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Clover Hill has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Midlothian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clover Hill couldn't quite get it done against Midlothian in their previous matchup last Wednesday as they fell 7-3. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
